Exploring a Septic Field

The septic field also called a leach field or drain field, is used to remove contaminants and impurities from the liquid that emerges from the septic tank. After gray water and black water come into the tank and the waste is broken down and separated, the water runs through a drain line (or multiple drain lines, depending on the size of your septic system) where it then slowly percolates through rocks, sand, and gravel.
